Below is a list of the common questions users have asked while using the ScanX InLine Erase Digital Imaging System.

  1. Is there more than one erase/scan mode?
  2. Will all imaging software offer “erase only” mode?
  3. Are different drivers used with ScanX InLine Erase?
  4. Can older drivers or “drivers and utilities disks” be used with the new ScanX ILE models?

  6. Can my Original ScanX be upgraded to a ScanX InLine Erase Model?

1. Is there more than one erase/scan mode?

Yes.

a. Scan with Erase – This mode is initiated on the keypad of the ScanX unit. In this mode, the blue erase light will illuminate continuously. Plates will transport through the ScanX. They are scanned and the images are transferred to the computer. The plates are erased and dropped into the receiving tray.

b. Scan no Erase – This mode is initiated on the keypad of the ScanX unit. In this mode, the blue erase light will blink on and off. Plates will transport through the ScanX, but images are not erased. Plates then drop into the receiving tray.

c. Erase only – Is initiated thru imaging software. For example, in the imaging software, choose “erase only” instead of “intraoral standard”. Plates transport through the ScanX, but no image is read. The plates are then erased and dropped into the receiving tray.

2. Will all imaging software offer "erase only' mode?

No.

“Erase Only” mode may not be available in some imaging programs. We will list those programs as they become apparent. However, if this occurs and “erase only” mode is needed, the end-user should be able to get “erase only” functionality by running Demoscan. While in Demoscan, choose the “erase only” function, and run the plates through the ScanX.

3. Are different drivers used with ScanX InLine Erase?

Yes.

Drivers for the ILE units are different from those used in any previous ScanX unit. The ILE drivers will be provided on the new “Drivers and Utilities” disk which will be included with every new ScanX ILE unit. In the near future, the drivers will also be available on our website.
The New ILE drivers, as well as the vistascan.ini and vistascan.dll files, are fully backwards compatible with their counterpart non ILE models.

4. Can older drivers or “drivers and utilities disks” be used with the new ScanX ILE models?

No.

Previously released “Drivers and Utilities” disks, drivers, ini and dll files will not work with ILE units.

5. Will dynamic rendering be included with the ILE “drivers and utilities disk?

Yes.

“Dynamic Rendering” will be included on the ILE “Drivers and Utilities” disk. No changes have been made to dynamic rendering. You will still able to turn it on & off through use of the “configure dynamic rendering” program.

6. Can my Original ScanX be upgraded to a ScanX InLine Erase Model? ?

No.

Presently, there are no plans to offer any upgrades to existing units.
